I want to share a Medium story with y'all. I don't do this often.
At the intersection of art and words—artists and writers
Happy Thursday. How’s the week going for you guys?
Today’s issue is going to be super short. The focus is going to be on a wonderful article by Sara Cansino. It’s about art and artists and the difference their works can make in real life.
This article made me muse on the topic of how art can change the world. Or at least bring some difference in it.
Being the writer that I am, I can’t stop myself from extending that write-up and thinking if it’s true for writing as well.
This piece of writing inspired me as much as it encouraged me to value great stories and artworks.
The story is well-crafted and you can also congratulate Sara for getting her artwork featured in the Museum of Contemporary Arts.
Create, but with heart and soul
I see writing more as a helpful distraction than a chore. I don’t want it to become the latter.
It’s an escape where I can be as creative or as mundane as I wish to be. I can experiment. I can fail. I can learn. I can become better.
It’s a craft. Just like art, drama, and photography.
And when it’s done with heart and soul, it has the power to change the world. One word, stroke, shot at a time.
Sara has written many articles for theMUSINGS, a small personal essay focused pub on Medium. I’m an editor there.
I just love reading her articles. It has this beautiful story that will take you on a ride of its own every time you read her words. Her illustrations are the same, if not better.
Read her work and see for yourself.
