Write For theMUSINGS
Contribute to a friendly & relaxed publication on Medium
Introduction
theMUSINGS crossed 400 followers recently.
That day I decided to write a new Write For Us post. More inclined towards making a short announcement than making it a full-fledged article about all the rules of submission.
Get to know theMUSINGS a little better if this is your first interaction with this publication here.
I know you know the drill.
If in case you’re new, no problem. I believe in keeping things simple.
That’s why applying to become a writer for this pub is as simple as writing your name and Medium username.
Here is the Google form you need to fill out.
(Sometimes it feels shy to present itself in the Medium app on Android or iOS. Click this link to get redirected to the website if in case that happens. It should work well if you’re viewing it in a browser on a desktop or mobile.)

What Topics Will Be the Focus of This Publication
One of the prime things I am trying to do is to gradually give a “taste” to this publication.
For a long time, theMUSINGS has been like a ship that was steering by itself.
It was a place for anything and everything. I loved that and had I enough means, I would like to continue doing that.
But sometimes I also get articles on cryptocurrency and how to make money by downloading an app (that routes through some weird links).
I rejected them.
It was then that I felt it was high time I initiated giving a tone to this publication. What it stands for and what type of articles it houses.
Though every genre is an ocean to explore in itself, unfortunately, I can’t accept them all for the aforementioned reasons.
So here are some tags around which this publication will be grounded.
Personal essays
theMUSINGS started with personal essays. Our stories and experiences are invaluable. It can sometimes become the only motivation the person on the other side of the screen is needing.
So why not build a community where we can all share our personal successes that can inspire us and losses that will make us think and learn? Without any judgements.
That is what the purpose of theMUSINGS was, is and will be.
You can share your personal stories, anecdotes, events, and mishaps to the extent you are comfortable sharing online.
This personal touch is what makes theMUSINGS a place to muse and speak your heart out.
Here are some useful tags that go well with personal essays:

Medium and Writing
This includes genuine writing tips, your success stories on Medium, monthly reviews of Medium progress, and how-to articles on relevant sub-topics.
No get-rich-quick or any other fake tutorials to get sales is permissible. Disclosing any affiliate links is also a must, as per Medium editorial guidelines.
These topics are included so we can all get subtle insights into what’s going on with our craft (writing) and platform (Medium).

Productivity and Life
I know these are two broad umbrella terms to include in the publication. But it goes in perfect sync with the taste and previous stories published in theMUSINGS.
That’s why I have included these tags and topics in the list of acceptable articles.
You can talk about how well uber-popular productivity advice has worked for you. Do you have a positive feeling about the same? If so (or vice versa), talk about it.
How is life happening to you lately? Exciting? Boring? Not going as satisfactorily as you expected? That, and more, deserves a story. To the extent you are comfortable sharing, of course.

Now onto some miscellaneous
From the very beginning, this publication is a little informal, so there’s no issue if you occasionally break a little-known grammar rule here or add an emoji or emoticons there. We’re totally fine with it until it serves the purpose of being valuable to the readers. 😉
If you use any affiliate links, please disclose them then and there. Also, don’t forget to give images credit and make sure they are license-free. Some good sources to pick images from are Pexels and Unsplash. You can now do the same on your mobile application as well.
Make sure to edit and format your stories as much as you can because I’m only 16 and this small gesture from your side will put so much burden off me. Use Grammarly, ProWritingAid or other services like that to make this job a little easier.
Take inspiration, but don’t plagiarise. There’s a fine line and we should acknowledge, accept, and respect that. You can tag the author of the piece you have drawn inspiration from. I will try to post an article every month containing writing prompts and tag y’all to keep your creative juices flowing. That will be fun :)
Last but not least, share what more can be added, so this publication becomes better for all of us. It is not me but the community that runs this publication after all. I will create a separate Google form for that shortly. Until then, drop them off in the comment section below.
I’ll add more resources for you guys shortly. Until then, share the love and keep writing.
Thanks for your support. Love y’all, always. ❤️☺️
